Description

In my spate of MLP artwork, here is something a little different.

In case you were unaware, I'm kinda obsessed with the occult and the paranormal. I've been recently getting back into it in earnest after a brief lull of activity, and one such thing I've been researching alot is the creation of amulets and seals. Such seals were usually disks, with various symbols, glyphs and text (Usually in a 'magickal' text, such as Theban, Enochian, Malachin, Hebrew or whatever) arranged in such a way to bring something about. And I noticed that MLP, being based very heavily round the idea of magic, is ideal for using their lore to make such a symbol. So here it is: The Sigillum Dei Harmonia, the Seal of Harmony.

Inspired by John Dee's Sigillum Dei Aemeth, it incorporates 6 glyphs that have been derived from the 6 Elements of Harmony: Honesty, Loyalty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity and Magic. The glyphs were obtained by writing each element in Theban script and sigilising them (Taking the letters and arranging them into a single symbol).

Arranging these around and inside a pentagram (A classic protective symbol, and NOT Satanic, before you comment. If it was upside down, then it would be Satanic) gave me the central pentacle.

The text round the pentacle is simply 'Friendship is Magic', translated into Latin and written in Theban. The three symbols represent the three Alicorns of Equestria: Celestia, Luna and Twilight, represented by the Sun, the Moon and the Star (I didn't include Cadance because she's technically not an Equestrian princess, but princess of her own nation).

And the sigils above each symbol (The squiggly lines in the outer circle), are obtained by numerologically converting the letters of the 3 Princesses' names into numbers and tracing them across their respective Magical Squares (Sol for Celestia, Luna for Luna, and Jupiter for Twilight).

This design could be used in a number of ways in ritual workings. Etched onto a pendant or drawn on paper, it could be consecrated and charged into an amulet for protective use (Combining a protective pentagram with the 6 Elements to counter disharmonious magic), or to draw the 'occult virtues' to one's working. It could also be made into a Pantacle, for use along with the other 3 ritual tools (The Chalice, the Athame and the Wand).

Feel free to use the design however you like.
